Hillary Clinton: I’m Tough On China
By Paul Midler | November 21, 2007
In an effort to show she has foreign policy chops, Hillary Clinton is now trying to convince us that she’s tough on China. She was quoted today as saying : “I went to Beijing in 1995 and stood up to the Chinese government on human rights.”
Seriously, was that a joke? It was her own husband who in 1993 “delinked” America’s economic policy with efforts to advance human rights in China. We gave China favored trade status with no strings attached. Critics then and now recognize the lost opportunity, and there is no doubt that China has become unmanageable from a foreign policy perspective because of decisions made by the Clinton administration.
Even more disturbing is what has been going on between Hillary Clinton and some who were willing to break campaign contribution laws in order to see her get elected. Norman Hsu’s case has been effectively put on ice as a means of deferring controversy until after the election, and, even more troubling, the Los Angeles Times has reported widespread circumvention of campaign contribution laws by overzealous Chinatown residents who are doing what they can to get another Clinton back in office. If you haven’t heard of these stories, strong recommend to check the links.
This next election: Vote Republican.

And a Republican won’t kowtow to the Chinese in the interests of advancing the big businesses that put him in the White House (should a Republican be voted in)??

Hillary Clinton wins the Democratic nomination, and then it doesn’t matter who among the Republicans makes the ballot.

It would help if America “played nice” as well. I am tired of constantly being reminded of U.S. hypocrisy…

I like what the Republican Party is supposed to stand for: free trade, small government, etc… But for a Republican to become the next President of the US would be to give the GOP a mandate for all of their neoconservative crap and it would give the Executive department a mandate for waging wars of questionable legality. At least half of the Clintons have been some of the biggest proponents of free trade. Who knows what pretense a too tough for his own good Giuliani might find for flexing his muscles abroad. This is an important moment in history, just as the end of WWII was important. The world fell into a Cold War with the Soviets because of a lack of trust, a lack of understanding, and politics at home, all on both sides. We can’t let that happen with China.

I think Clinton will most likely will. Something about women in office these days. They got Rice with Bush, new one in Germany, VP in Taiwan and I think Clinton will be the icing on the cake this next coming year. She has shows her support for Israel and the Jewish lobby in America which is her key to winning this upcoming election. I could be wrong but that is my $.02…
